Today’s a hot day in Sydney and after a double brekkie, we need ice cream to cool us down! We’ve been to Messina Darlinghurst before, and didn’t know there’d be one in Surry Hills!
The flavours are the same at both Messinas gelato, but there’s far more seatings available at Darlinghurst. Fortunately, the park outside has some room and benches!
I found the salted caramel to be a bit too savoury for my liking. Monsieur loved every spoonful of it. The Gianduja was very indulging and is a mix between Hazelnut and Chocolate, so perfect for those who can’t decide between these two great flavours

Hi Mademoiselle!
I recently saw that there is a new Gelato place opening on the other end of Crown Street opposite Mad Mex- they have posters up on their shop while they are doing fitout. It is called RivaReno Gelato – I went to their website and it looks absolutely amazing!! Something for you to try whenever it opens. It is a gelato brand straight from Italy, and they only use the best ingredients. Im pretty excited myself – I love gelato!! Jenn.
Hi Jenn,
Thanks for your tip, I will definitely give RivaReno Gelato a go. With Sydney experiencing a major heatwave today, ice cream is certainly welcomed!

Hello! I found your blog while looking up reviews for cafes in Bowral.
)
Just wanted to say that I used to visit Riva Reno gelato regularly when I was living in Milan and it was FABULOUS. I hope it transports over here well… but it’s so exciting to have it come all the way across the world!!!
