Mamma Mia, here I go again, Madang, O how much I love you! If there’s one type of food I could eat for the rest of my life, that certainly would be Korean Barbecue, and Sydney Madang is definitely THE place to be.
We went for the Bulgogi AUD 15 and Nug Gan Sal AUD 19 as I feel that beef is always a safer choice when you cook it in a place where lighting is not at its utmost… You can deal with raw beef, but not with uncooked pork.
The marinade is great, the barbecue has water underneath and thus, is healthier than that of its neighbour, O Bal Tan, and though you do leave with the smell of barbecued meat, it isn’t as strong as if you go next door.
The Banchan, though, are worst a visit. These are the complimentary all you can eat side, and Monsieur and I do make excellent use of the “all you can eat”, not because I’m of Chinese descent and love all things free, but because the banchans at Sydney Madang are plein awesome. OK, they’re salty and do make you thirsty, but Mamma Mia, I love their salad with seasoning, I love their sweet potatoes marinated in soy… I love Banchan (and I should get a t-shirt that says I do)
We also ordered soft shell crab and it was crisp, nicely coated and great, highly recommended. For the self-conscious, there’s salad that comes with the soft shell crab!
Sydney Madang is one of our favourite restaurants, and definitely the best Korean we’ve been to. I love it, Monsieur loves it, definitely a must go! Highly recommended

hummmm – looks so yummy ! And knowing how fresh, tasty and tender the Aussie meat usually is …. i m sure you had a fab Korean BBQ ! I m just jealous !
I was first introduced to Korean Barbecue back in London, couple of years ago now.
A non-chain restaurant somewhere around Farringdon served awesome bulgogi…
Is “I am Madang ” a pon ?
haha, it’s a pun indeed… I’m mad about korean bbq in general anyway!
Adore this place.
ìt’s one of the rare Korean BBQ where you do not smell like you’ve been chargrilled yourself once you’re out
(well you do, but it’s bearable!!)
