It’s time to celebrate the moon with the moon festival! On Sunday, 30th of september 2012, we will eat a mooncake to bring luck our way!
Emperor’s Garden cakes and bakery is the place to go for pastries. They sell the famed emperor puffs and most importantly, once a year, they’ve got mooncakes!
So many flavours to choose from… I really wonder how the roasted duck mooncake taste, but we decide to get a classic lotus with 2 egg yolks (small version)…
Yep that’s right, here’s a huge mooncake with eight egg yolks, couldn’t believe my eyes!
Other (more traditional) flavours include chinese ham and mixed nut with an egg yolk. The mooncakes cost around 10 to 12 AUD each, but if you get 4, the price is AUD42.
If you can’t eat the heavier traditional ones, here are minimooncakes…
We get just one black sesame snow skin mooncake. These have to be stored in the fridge.
The black sesame mooncake was delicious!!! I was surprised they actually managed to fit an egg yolk in! One costs AUD4
